As the number of calls to the 118 directory decrease, the price for a 90-second phone call has increased dramatically. With prices reaching up to £19.98, Ofcom have taken matters into their own hands by implementing a cap.
Many elderly customers have been the victims of these unexpected high charges because they do not have access to the internet, therefore their only option is to use the directory that they know. This has caused more people to struggle with their finances and is landing them into significant amounts of debt.
Ofcom has decided to crack down on these ridiculous charges and put a price cap into place by 1st April 2019. After taking into account the previous prices from 2012 and researching what customers would expect to pay, the figure they have decided on is £3.65 for a 90-second call.
This figure is significantly smaller and will definitely have a positive effect on customer satisfaction.
