Announced back in September at Apple’s annual launch event, the iPhone 13 sees several improvements from the iPhone 12. Although there are no major new features, these enhancements make this model does stand out from the rest.

Same Design with Different Colours

The iPhone 13 features a more angular, flat-edge design which is still comfortable in-hand whilst looking sleek and stylish. The front panel is made from Apple’s patented Ceramic Shield technology which provides 4x the protection compared to the glass used on previous models.

As well as drop resistant, the iPhone 13 is also IP68 dust and water resistant, so it is protected against 6 metres of water for up to 30 minutes. Finally, there is a new colour palette to choose from: Blue, Midnight, Cream (Starlight), Product Red, and Pink.

An Upgraded Camera

Even though there are only small tweaks to the cameras, they are noticeable ones. The main camera sees a pixel upgrade, therefore a picture quality upgrade, going from 1.4µm on the iPhone 12 to 1.7µm pixels on the iPhone 13. The two rear cameras feature a 12MP wide camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera with a 120-degree field of view.

There is a new element called Photographic Styles, which enables you to apply custom styles to your images including Warm and Cool styles and Rich Contrast edits. Also, Apple’s Sensor Shift OIS technology is present, as seen in iPhone 12 Pro Max, which provides optimum image stabilisation.

Increased Battery Life & Quality

Apple iPhones have never been renowned for their outstanding battery lives and while this still isn’t as good as some Android models available, it has made a difference to the Apple range. With the ability to only have to charge it every other day and the compatibility with wireless charging, the iPhone 13’s battery life is great.
