Thames Bridges Trek Logo For Great Ormond Street Hospital

On Saturday 10th September, one of the Ocean team members took part in the Thames Bridges Trek, raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

What is the Thames Bridges Trek?

As part of the Ultra Challenge Series, the Thames Bridges Trek covers 15 miles and 16 historic bridges across the River Thames. Starting from Putney Bridge and travelling East across Wandsworth Bridge, Chelsea Bridge and Lambeth Bridge towards the city.

Every bridge has an interesting origin and backstory you can learn zig-zagging along the way. There is a midpoint stop at Kennington Oval for snacks, drinks and refuel, before finishing 25km later in Southwark past Tower Bridge.

Fundraising Efforts from Ocean Telecom

Even though you are able to enjoy the sights, landmarks and skyline of London and the history on route, the main reason the team took part in this challenge was to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

Colin Penston, our Sales Manager, joined one of our customers, Focus Travel Group, and their team of staff, customers and suppliers on this trek. With a target of £4,000, they ended up raising over £4,600!

“Myself and the team joined thousands of other people and walked 25km over 16 bridges across London to raise money for GOSH, needless to say a very worthwhile charity. Worth every blister and achy muscle and a great way to see London too on foot. Can recommend for anyone looking for a new challenge to raise money for good causes”

You can still sponsor and donate to the worthwhile charity here and we look forward to the next challenge that comes our way.
