Upgrading Your Toshiba Business Phones
If you’re reading this, then you might already be aware that Toshiba withdrew from the UK market in 2016. Upgrading your Toshiba phone system isn’t as hard as you may think. Ocean Telecom have years of experience with Toshiba, and can guide you through upgrading to a modern alternative.
Toshiba phone systems, while extremely reliable, were never feature rich. You may feel that upgrading your Toshiba telephone system isn’t necessary, but unfortunately that’s not the case. Now, long after the Pandemic began, the way businesses work has changed forever, and so has the technology we use to communicate.
Whatever your business type, if you’re using a Toshiba business phone system, it will have to be changed, and there are two fundamental reasons for this:
1. The ISDN Switch Off
In 2025 BT will be discontinuing the ISDN network. ISDN lines have been the most common connecting method used for routing calls for decades. Now, with widespread access to reliable and fast internet connections, ISDN lines have become, costly, cumbersom and very limited in functionality.
Your Toshiba system does not have the ability to exploit the technologies replacing ISDN. This will mean you cannot effectively use the old Toshiba system any longer.
2. New methods of communications
You should consider what the alternatives are, and what they can do for your business. The newer options take full advantage of faster and widespread internet connectivity. A new cloud based system is hugely flexible. It can be setup to work in the same way as your old Toshiba system, or you can have a completely flexible method of working.
Here are a few of the ways a cloud system can work that couldn’t be achieved on the Toshiba systems:
- Your extension can be any device. You can still have a desk phone, or simply use your PC, tablet or mobile.
- Staff can be located anywhere and still be part of the system.
- Use “Chat” to message individual staff members or teams.
- Video calling and video conferencing is built in.
- Calls are recorded and simple to access.
