Ocean Telecom Sales Director prepares for Cricket World Cup

Expect big things from Ocean’s own England batsman Giles Ecclestone in the Over 50’s World Cup. The World Cup begins in South Africa on March 11th and sees England take on India in the first round.

Before joining Ocean in 2002, Giles enjoyed a career as a professional cricketer, playing for Essex and laterly in South Africa. Since retiring from full time cricket, Giles has continued to play both for Saffron Walden and the MCC.

In the 2019 ECB 50+ County Championship – the world’s largest, longest established and biggest over-50s league – Giles dominated in his first year of participation. He scored 681 runs in just 7 matches for Essex at an average of 97.29.

His scores included three 100s and a massive 213 against Hertfordshire.

That amazing innings came off 128 balls, with 19 fours and 8 sixes and is the highest score ever in official over-50s cricket. Unsurprisingly Giles was selected for the England squad.

We all wish Giles & the England team the very best of luck and will cheer him on in the upcoming matches!
